Arne Nixon Center for the Study of Children's Literature

Exhibits

Aliki display

On display in the Center's Reading Room is a sampling of the papers of authors and illustrators collected by the Center. These interesting resources provide documentation of the creation of children's literature. The cases hold a wide range of materials such as original artwork from Ashley Bryan, hand constructed mockup books by Aliki, an edited interview by Alma Flor Ada, Walter R. Brooks' antique portable Corona typewriter and much more.

Volcano pop-up book

The Shirley Brinker Gallery, located just outside the Center, comes alive with a display of colorful pop-up books. The books feature subjects both light and dark. From the 100 Acre Wood, Emerald City, and zany worlds of Dr. Suess, to a spooky house, exploding volcano and flying monkeys, pop-up books are published on almost every topic imaginable. We hope you will stop by and take a look.
