Tim Hamilton's graphic novel adaptation of Fahrenheit 451

Books are Burning at Fresno's Big Read ~ Fahrenheit 451 ~

March 19, 2010 ~ 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. ~ Come hear graphic novelist Tim Hamilton as he discusses his authorized adaption of Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451. The Arne Nixon Center is teaming up once again with the Fresno County Public Library as part of this year’s Big Read event. The featured book, Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 will be celebrated throughout Fresno County.

Tim Hamilton’s presentation will be held in the Woodward Park Branch Library located at 944 E. Perrin in Fresno beginning at

Kate Greenaway's Tea Party

February 11, 2010 ~ 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. ~ The ANCA Board will be honoring you at the annual Life Member Tea. Past parties have included: A St. Patrick’s Day celebration attended by Board member Jackie Sarkisian, who came with green hair; an appearance by Beatrix Potter portrayed by Linda Spalding; and a slide show of Leo Politi’s life and the beautiful artwork found in his picture books. This year, a Valentine tea will be held in the home of ANCA Board member Kristene Scholefied.

If you’re already a Life Member, please mark your calendar. If you’ve been thinking about becoming a Life Member, sign up any time between now and February 11th and you can be a guest at the tea party and as a bonus, you will be named as a sponsor at the April 11th Secret Garden Party. Join us for a "Wicked" Garden Party

April 11, 2010 ~ 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. ~ There will be no cyclones, flying monkeys, or apple-throwing trees, but you might see a Wicked Witch at the eighth annual Secret Garden Party. Held in a spacious north Fresno garden, the party will feature songs from "Wicked," the hit Broadway musical, and other Ozzy surprises. Funds raised will support the programs and collections of the Arne Nixon Center, including a national Oz conference planned for May 14-16, 2010.
